OVERVIEW

Voulhire was founded in the year I:1 by Idus Alysius (a-lee-see-us), known formally throughout Voulhirian society as King Saint Idus. His dynastic succession lasted for 727 years, and was proceeded by the Modius Dynasty.

The Modius Dynasty lasted for 802 years. History marks this period from the year M:1-M:802.

The third and final Voulhirian dynasty was that of House Crodai, which lasted 311 years. Thus, history marks this era from the year C:1-C:311.

At the end of the last great dynasty, it was decided that no family would ever rule Voulhire for more than three generations. This heralded the Common Era (CE).

Earth revolves around the sun once per 384 days.

Some societies have been known to divide the year into named months; while Voulhirians indeed use the 32-day lunar cycle to tabulate time, the year is simply divided into the four seasons, and from then the dates of each season, with each season consisting of 96 days.

Each year begins on the first day of autumn. On the last day of summer, Voulhire celebrates the harvest during the Feast of Human Hands.

At the time of this guide’s authorship, the coming Feast of Human Hands will herald us into the year 180 of the Common Era. Wilhelm, God ever bless him, has been king for 25 years. Our spiritual father, the holy Eiodi, Sasha Gadesh, has guided us for 29 years. Voulhire, praise Heaven, finds itself in the midst of perhaps its greatest years in our long and venerable history.

ALL OF THE INFORMATION IN THIS GUIDE REFLECTS THE UNDERSTANDING OF VOULHIRE’S MAINSTREAM SCHOLARS AS OF THE TURNING OF THE YEAR CE:180, WHERE THE FIRST BOOK OF WE ARE VOULHIRE BEGINS. THIS IS AN ONGOING ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE SETTING OF THE STORY AND THE HISTORY OF ITS TITULAR KINGDOM. MUCH MORE IS SOON TO COME.
